BRiK: Building Resilience in Kenya.

Our flagship programme and the first full application of our model, designed to establish what works, learn from the process and prepare to replicate responsibly.

The programme

An integrated package for every participant.

BRiK supports women and youth farmers in Busia County with a combined package: productive capital, practical agriculture and financial literacy training, community mentoring, cooperative development and market access, with monitoring that tracks what works.

  • A pre-pilot in Busia County, with participants chosen through community wealth ranking and household verification.
  • A 1:10 mentor to participant ratio, with weekly field visits.
  • Income-sharing capital for each participant. Participants contribute a share of verified profits, never from a loss, and never as fixed debt.

The pilot, stage by stage

What we have done, and what is next.

BRiK follows five stages. Here is where each one stands today.

Identify

Community-led selection of the households that need support most.

Completed for the pre-pilot

What we have done

  • Wealth ranking, household verification and a baseline assessment, with local leaders
  • Households joined the pre-pilot, with women-headed households well represented

What comes next

  • Repeat the same community-validated process for each new group of households
What participants receive

Capital, skills, mentoring and markets.

Income-sharing capital

Small productive capital without collateral. Contributions follow verified profit, so risk is shared.

Practical training

Agriculture, agribusiness and financial literacy participants can apply immediately.

Community mentors

Local mentors follow up through field visits, production planning and record keeping.

Market access

Buyer, aggregation and cooperative linkages that turn production into dependable income.

Why it matters

Built to inform scale.

BRiK generates evidence on income growth, repayment performance, market participation and job creation, which will shape how the work grows responsibly.

Learning that guides growth

We share progress and lessons with partners so that our growth is guided by what works.

Working alongside families to build dignified livelihoods.

Whether you wish to support the work, supply or buy from producers, share technical expertise or simply learn more, we welcome the conversation. Every partnership begins with the conviction that people are worthy of dignity and a fair chance to prosper.
